UNESCO International Poster Competition
Posted: Sun, 07 Feb 2010 11:32:00 +0000The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 2010, International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures , and has defined three main dimensions: dialogue , mutual understanding , and cooperation . UNESCO, as a specialized agency of the United Nations entrusted with the mandate to build ?the defences of peace in the minds of men," has been designated as lead agency of the Year within the UN system. Participants of the competition are invited to express their vision and understanding of the " Rapprochement of Cultures " by designing posters that creatively emphasize the importance of exchange and dialogue among and between cultures in ensuring social cohesion and harmonious coexistence. Designers have complete creative liberty . 50 posters will be selected for display in an online gallery linked to UNESCO's website dedicated to the celebration of the International Year 2010. From 50 selected posters, 30 posters will be printed for an exhibition to be held at UNESCO HQ in May 2010 in the framework of the UNESCO International Festival of Cultural Diversity . From the 30, UNESCO will select an Overall Winner who will receive a $2000 cash prize plus an invitation from UNESCO to attend the poster exhibition at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in May 2010. website link

2010 Natural Talent Design Competition
Posted: Sat, 06 Feb 2010 09:12:00 +0000USGBC's Natural Talent Design Competition provides applied learning experience in the principles of integrated design , sustainability , and innovation , all of which are components of the LEED Green Building Rating System. Participants compete in local competitions, and the top winner of each moves on to compete for a national award at USGBC?s annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo . Awards include green building scholarships, as well as travel and registration to Greenbuild, where finalists? entries are displayed and final judging occurs. Registration rates are $25 per student team and $50 per emerging professional team, but will increase to $50 and $75, respectively, after March 1st. Open to USA only . website link

SMPS National Marketing Communications Awards

Now in its 33rd year, this competition is open to both SMPS Members and Nonmembers, US and International Firms. Materials completed between January 2008 and December 2009 will be accepted for the 2010 competition. First-, second-, and third-place and small-firm winners (as appropriate) will be announced on stage at the Awards Gala on July 15, 2010 , during the 2010 SMPS National Conference . website link
